Front Range Writers & Artists Release Party

Release Party Announcement

We are pleased to announce the release party for our Front Range Writers & Artists issue of Bombay Gin. Celebrate our writing community and join us for an evening of readings and performances by some of the contributors of this issue. This event is free and open to the public, and we will be serving sweets and refreshing beverages.

Pick up a copy of Bombay Gin 38.2: Front Range Writers & Artists for $12. We’ll also be selling bundles of back issues from $5 to $10, as well as chapbooks from the Kavyayantra Press.

If you have any questions about the event, leave me a comment or send an email to bgin@naropa.edu.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Welcome Back, We Missed You

This holiday break has been exceptionally long. It felt endless. Perhaps because I read Jane Eyre for the millionth time, along with every essay about Dora’s Case, and the fact that when it snowed I became obsessed again with the falling snow in “The Dead.”

Or maybe I’m all-too-aware, along with my peers, that this is our last semester with Bombay Gin and our time as graduate students is half over. Thankfully, there’s a lot of work to do. Hopefully that won’t go by too quickly.

Alas! Enough melancholy. I have great news:

Bombay Gin, Threshold: Tenuous Preposition Of, is back from the printers!

I haven’t yet snuck a peek, but I know the boxes have arrived. A release party for this issue is in the works. In the next week, I’ll have more solid details so you can mark calendars and celebrate this fantastic issue with us!

And in other excellent news: we are accepting submissions for our Front Range Writers issue. Deadline is February 15.

Mail submissions to:

Bombay Gin
Naropa University
Jack Kerouac School
2130 Arapahoe Ave
Boulder, CO 80301

We look forward to reading your work!

Who among us doesn’t like FREE STUFF? Or “light refreshments?” Or those local writers we’ve been talking about lately?

The Jack Kerouac School will host a BA/MFA fall graduation reading on Friday, December 9th in PAC at 7:30 PM. Reception with light refreshments to follow.

Where the magic happens..

Bombay Gin will be there to hand out (FREE!) back issues. Just in time for the holiday season and conveniently sized to slip into a suitcase for delivery to your favorite mom, professor, library, shelter, gym, airplane seat-back-pocket…

Are you holding a grudge against back issues?

Sure, they might not be the newest books edited on Arapahoe Avenue–but with a list of past contributors like this, you can’t go wrong with retro. (See: Allen Ginsberg, Anne Waldman, Robert Creeley, Ted Berrigan, Alice Notley, Gary Snyder, Akilah Oliver..)

Ready for some more name-dropping?
Here’s an almost-official list of Naropa graduates reading for us tonight.

Congratulations to:

Kaleigh Wraye
Stuart Shannon
Alan Wraye
Renee Crake
Sherri Pauli
Ania Chapska

And here’s some advice from fellow writer, Ron Koertge.

See you tonight! Light refreshments! Free stuff! Front Range writers!
